PRESS RELEASE 11/8/2007 - ESTABLISHMENT GRANT PAYMENTS & INFORMATION MEETINGS.

Miscanthus growers have welcomed the payment of the Establishment Grants by the Department of Agriculture. Speaking on behalf of the growers, Ronan Madigan welcomed the payments to farmers who had incurred significant outlay in establishing their plantations of Miscanthus. ‘We had a few delays along the way, but I welcome the Department’s prompt payment of the Establishment Grants once the inspection process was completed. We had stressed to the Department how essential it was to pay the growers who had financial commitments to meet and thankfully they took this on board’. He also congratulated the Department of Agriculture for being very helpful to Growers in the successful processing of their applications. ‘This is new for us all and the Department have grasped the process with both hands. It points to a bright future for Miscanthus growing in Ireland’ he said.

JHM Crops,promoters of Miscanthus growing are holding Information Meetings in the
following venues:

Devon Hotel,Templeglantine,Co.Limerick –Wed,November 21st at 8p.m.
Woodlands Hotel,Adare,Co.Limerick-Thurs,November 22nd at 8p.m.

These meetings are being held to meet the significant interest among farmers in growing
Miscanthus.
‘There is now huge interest out there and we will provide comprehensive information for
prospective growers on every stage of the process from planting all the way through to
end uses for the crop’said Joe Hogan of JHM Crops.
‘We will also have feedback from farmers who have already planted as we can all learn
from their experience’he said.
