Harvesting

Crop Info

In Ireland long term average harvestable returns from a mature crop have yielded 5-7 tonnes per acre per year and in many cases, in good quality soil, have exceeded 7 tonnes. The majority of the crop harvested in Ireland is mowed and baled. A forage harvester similar to that for maize can be used if supplying the crop in chip form. After harvesting the miscanthus bales will need to be stored on farm, prior to sale.
